Roll-Over Accident At Camp Pendleton Kills Marine

Roll-Over Accident At Camp Pendleton Kills Marine

NBC 7 News San Diego reports that one marine has been killed and 18 other service members were injured in a roll over accident at Camp Pendleton. According to the news article, 6 people sustained serious personal injuries and were in critical condition. Another 8 were in serious, but stable condition.

The accident remains under investigation. Details have not been made public detailing how the rollover occurred.

Rollover accidents are one of the more serious types of car-accidents and often occur in situations where a vehicle is top heavy. Other instances where rollovers are more prone to occur include where a driver overcorrects the car, such as if they veer off his side of the lane and jerks the wheel back too forcefully and losing control of the vehicle. This may cause the car to flip.

Another common reason may be where the car or truck hits a "trip" - such as a ditch or other uneven ground.

It is unknown what caused the accident in this instance.
